Diluting Scripture
Category: Teaching Topics

A HEBREW SAGE MIGHT SAY. . .
The foolishness of GOD is DiVINE wisdom, demanding faith.

DILUTING SCRIPTURE
"Be careful to observe only that which I enjoin (direct, command, instruct) upon you; neither add to it nor take away from it." [Deuteronomy (Devarim) 12. 32 Tanakh, Kethuvim]

There are many people in a large variety of cults who think their leader has a new revelation some new inspired word from ALMIGHTY GOD.  They have not received any new commands, but have obviously failed to look into what is written  and believed what the LIFE-GIVING WRITTEN WORD says.  This is heresy, and extremely foolish.  Though it seems to also be a practice of some denominations who presumptuously cut out and/or explain away every BIBLE verse they consider offensive in some way.  This is an exceedingly dangerous practice since "anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire." [Revelation 20. 15]

Paul too spoke words of diligent caution to the Galatians — "I marvel that you are turning away so soon from HIM WHO called you in the grace of CHRIST, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the Gospel of CHRIST. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other Gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed." [Galatians 1. 6 - 9]

The warning is confirmed throughout HOLY SCRIPTURE.  "I know that whatever ELOHIYM has brought to pass shall be forever: Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it ELOHIYM does it, that men should fear (revere, respect, be in awe of) HIM." [Ecclesiastes (Kohelet) 3. 14 Tanakh, Kethuvim]  "Thus says the LORD: 'Stand in the court of the LORD'S House, and speak...all the words that I command you to speak. Do not omit a word. Perhaps they will listen and turn back from their evil way, that I may relent concerning the calamity  (punishment) which I am planning to bring on them because of the wicked and evil acts they are doing.’" [Jeremiah (Tehillym) 26. 2 - 3 Tanakh, Nevi’im]

In the final testimony of the LORD Y’SHUA ha’MASHIACH to those who were to be HIS followers comes the clear command not to add to or dilute the INSPIRED LIFE-GIVING WORD: "If anyone takes away from the words of the Book of this Prophecy, GOD shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the Holy City, and from the things which are written in this Book." [Revelation 22. 19]

If men believe it or not, the HOLY SCRIPTURE is the exact, infallible, unerring, fixed, established, absolutely precise and true WORD OF GOD.  The HIGH & LOFTY ONE says what HE means, and means what HE says.  The various authors of the BIBLE occasionally used figurative language, in which case the symbols are usually explained in context.  When the writer clearly intends to be understood literally, such as in the first chapter of Genesis, it is dangerous to impose some symbolic meaning on the passage to take in outside considerations.  This appears to be what Paul meant when he said, "We have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the WORD OF GOD deceitfully, but by manifestation of the TRUTH commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of GOD. But even if our Gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the Gospel of the glory of CHRIST, WHO is the IMAGE OF GOD, should shine on them." [2 Corinthians 4. 2 - 5]

Changing or diluting what "is written" is completely unforgivable and is a treacherous path for those who choose the broad and easy way.  It will be easier at MESSIAH’S Judgment Seat to explain why we believed GOD than why we believed men who questioned the ALMIGHTY ONE.

Sha’alu (Pray) for the Shalom (Peace) of JerUSAlem and all of Israel!
Redeem Israel, O ELOHIYM, out of all their troubles!
Praised are YOU, O LORD GOD, for great is YOUR love for us and YOUR compassion boundless. Be gracious to us that we may understand and fulfill the teachings of YOUR REVERED WORD. Enlighten our eyes in YOUR Law that we may cling to YOUR commandments. Thank YOU for YOUR saving power, for from YOU comes our help. Draw us nearer to YOU to serve YOU in faithfulness. Joyfully, we lift our voices and proclaim YOUR PRECIOUS NAME.

Welcoming Rosh Chodesh – the month of Tammuz, though this month is named after the ancient Babylonian sun god. [see Ezekiel 8:12–18]   It seems the opposite of what the entire concept the Hebrew calendar is about. Each month offers us the opportunity for growth and renewal. Idol worship is pagan and limiting. Invoking the name of a central figure in a cult that worshipped the sun as the source of all energy seems somehow retrogressive. Our forefather Abraham made sense of nature realizing that there is a DIVINE, hidden hand that gives unity, elegance of form, and purpose…that is to worship only the holy, infinite MASTER CREATOR.

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem, is praying for the return of our Messiah and Lord and for the Kingdom of God He is bringing when He comes.  Then God's Will shall be done on earth as it is in Heaven and the world will experience true godly universal peace which is the fruit of Righteousness.

What Each Area of the Site is Meant For: Blogs - This is your personal space. This is where you should post thoughts that are not intended for extensive further discussion. Observations from personal study and events that have occurred in your life belong here. Unless your post ends with questions or makes it apparent that discussion is to follow, it should probably be a blog. As discussed later, blogs are limited to those who hold to historic Christian beliefs. Forums - This is for open discussion relating to the topic posted. Dialogue is encouraged to stay on topic, so if a side conversation begins, open a new discussion. This is where the majority of the activity has taken place so far. Topics should remain general in nature, while in depth discussion on narrow topics should take place in groups. Groups - This is a place to congregate with people who have similar interests and positions in order to have open discussion. The conversation in here is not required to remain on topic, so it is more ready to follow rabbit trails. This is where you should go if you want to gather with a particular kind of theologian. Before initiating a new group, we ask that you consider posting a question in the discussion forum area to see if there is enough interest to justify a separate group. The reason we encourage such action is that, in the event that a group is inactive for 6 months or more, the moderators of Scriptural Studies reserve the right to close down and delete the group due to inactivity. Events - This is available to anyone that wants to post an event that you think the members of Scriptural Studies may be interested in. Contact Denis, Rabbi Del, Rifkah, or Marti for more details on advertising. Our Attitude of conduct: In case you missed them on your way in, take some time to become acquainted with the conduct we expect on this site. You may find our Attidudes on the main forum page. Our purpose at Scripural Studies is that the conversations move in a Gracious way. We define Gracious in the following way: 1) Not closed minded 2) Not self-promoting 3) Not characterized by mass amounts of cut-and-paste proof-texting 4) Not characterized by mass amounts of cut-and-paste from other places 5) Irenic 6) Not slanderous 7) No spamming 8) Perpetual venting bitterness 9) Not confusing or disruptive But in all things you'll be welcome here
