A HEBREW SAGE MIGHT SAY. . .
Woe! to me if I shirk my responsibility to my CREATOR.

ONE GOD
"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our GOD, the LORD is ONE." [Deuteronomy (Devarim) 6. 4 Tanakh, Torah]

To my Jewish people, this is known as the Shema and we say it like this: "Sh'ma Yisroel Adonai Elohenu Adonai Echad!" [Deuteronomy/Devarim 6. 4]  This great verse has been recited countless times by Israelites, evening and morning, down through the centuries, setting forth their declaration of faith in their distinctive belief in one great CREATOR GOD.  This assertion is also setting forth the TRIUNE GOD.  The name LORD is Yehowah, the SELF-EXISTING ONE WHO reveals HIMSELF.  GOD is ELOHIYM (a plural word), the ALL-POWERFUL CREATOR/RULER proclaiming the declaration of who GOD is.  It speaks of a unified oneness rather than an absolute oneness.

The key word "one (Hebrew: echad — a compound unity, to unify, to collect one's thoughts, united)" is often used to denote unity in diversity.  When the SOVEREIGN CREATOR made Adam and Eve, HE stated that they shall be echadone flesh [Genesis/Berepooh 2. 24] a unity composed of two persons.

The TRI-UNITY of GOD is implied in Aaron's priestly benediction given to Moses by the MOST HIGH:  "Yehowah (the FATHER) bless you and protect you. YEhowah (the SON) deal kindly and make HiS face to shine upon you and be gracious to you! YEhowah (the HOLY SPIRIT) lift up HiS countenance and bestow HiS favor upon you and grant you friendship and peace." [Numbers (B'Midvar) 6. 24 - 26 Tanakh, Torah]

The ZOHAR — one of the Jews' most sacred books, commenting on the Shema states: "Why is there need of mentioning the name of the HOLY ONE three times in this verse? The first name, YEHOWAH is the FATHER. The second is the STEM OF JESSE, the MESSIAH WHO is to come from the family of David. The third refers to the ONE WHO is in us, defining the HOLY SPIRIT WHO leads and empowers us; and these THREE ARE ONE." The Hebrew word here is Shali'YAH meaning three-fold, triple, triangle the plural of majesty.   This teaching of the Zohar is based on the HOLY WORD OF GOD through Jeremiah, where in giving the promise of Israel's safety through the MESSIAH, it is added, "And this is the NAME by which HE shall be calledYEhowah TSIDQENUW (The LORD our RIGHTEOUSNESS / The LORD is our VINDICATOR)." [Jeremiah (Yirmeyah) 23. 6 Tanakh, Nevi'im]

In the NEW COVENANT, the authentic "Lord's Prayer" — MESSIAH Y’SHUA prayed, "HOLY FATHER, keep through YOUR NAME those whom YOU have given ME, that they may be one as WE are ONE. And the glory which YOU gave ME, I have given them, that they may be one just as WE are ONE." [John 17. 11, 22]

The three-fold constitution of man (body—soul—spirit) proclaims the TRI-PERSONAL GOD WHO created him in HIS own image.  The Shema, expressing the TRI-UNITY OF THE GOD-HEAD, precedes the command calling upon man's threefold nature: Spirit (heart), soul (essence), and might (body) to love his triune MAJESTIC CREATOR GOD!   The ETERNAL OMNIPRESENT FATHER, CREATOR, and SUSTAINER of all things is our unified SELF-REVEALING LORD Y’SHUA ha'MASHIACH.

Sha'alu (Pray) for the Shalom (Peace) of Jerusalem and all of Israel!
Redeem Israel, O ELOHIYM, out of all their troubles!
Watch and pray, the LORD Messiah Y’SHUA is coming soon to set up HIS Kingdom. The descendants of HIS servants shall inherit it, and those who love HIS NAME shall dwell in it.
GOD, do not be silent; do not be distant; do not be quiet, O GOD! For YOUR enemies rage, those who hate YOU exalt themselves. They plot craftily against YOUR people, take counsel against YOUR treasured ones. They say — Let us wipe them out as a nation; Israel's name will be mentioned no more. — Yet we are confident that, HE WHO keeps Israel neither slumbers or sleeps! Truly, there is none like YOU, O LORD GOD. YOU are glorious in holiness, revered in worship, wondrous in all YOUR works! There is none like YOU, infinite is YOUR power, so is YOUR love.

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem, is praying for the return of our Messiah and Lord and for the Kingdom of God He is bringing when He comes.  Then God's Will shall be done on earth as it is in Heaven and the world will experience true godly universal peace which is the fruit of Righteousness.

What Each Area of the Site is Meant For: Blogs - This is your personal space. This is where you should post thoughts that are not intended for extensive further discussion. Observations from personal study and events that have occurred in your life belong here. Unless your post ends with questions or makes it apparent that discussion is to follow, it should probably be a blog. As discussed later, blogs are limited to those who hold to historic Christian beliefs. Forums - This is for open discussion relating to the topic posted. Dialogue is encouraged to stay on topic, so if a side conversation begins, open a new discussion. This is where the majority of the activity has taken place so far. Topics should remain general in nature, while in depth discussion on narrow topics should take place in groups. Groups - This is a place to congregate with people who have similar interests and positions in order to have open discussion. The conversation in here is not required to remain on topic, so it is more ready to follow rabbit trails. This is where you should go if you want to gather with a particular kind of theologian. Before initiating a new group, we ask that you consider posting a question in the discussion forum area to see if there is enough interest to justify a separate group. The reason we encourage such action is that, in the event that a group is inactive for 6 months or more, the moderators of Scriptural Studies reserve the right to close down and delete the group due to inactivity. Events - This is available to anyone that wants to post an event that you think the members of Scriptural Studies may be interested in. Contact Denis, Rabbi Del, Rifkah, or Marti for more details on advertising. Our Attitude of conduct: In case you missed them on your way in, take some time to become acquainted with the conduct we expect on this site. You may find our Attidudes on the main forum page. Our purpose at Scripural Studies is that the conversations move in a Gracious way. We define Gracious in the following way: 1) Not closed minded 2) Not self-promoting 3) Not characterized by mass amounts of cut-and-paste proof-texting 4) Not characterized by mass amounts of cut-and-paste from other places 5) Irenic 6) Not slanderous 7) No spamming 8) Perpetual venting bitterness 9) Not confusing or disruptive But in all things you'll be welcome here
